Fillies on show with first 7s carnival
Rugby union: It is a season of firsts for the St George Frillneck Fillies, and there's no sign they're slowing down any time soon.
This weekend, the girls will play host to a rugby 7s carnival for the first time, hoping to continue their winning streak after a victorious tour of Warwick last month.
President of the Frillnecks, Ben Gardiner said he was incredibly proud of how well the girls were going in their first season.
"They absolutely smashed it. Considering the Warwick competition was their first competition game ever, they are absolutely smashing their first season,” he said.
"And we are looking forward to a cracking day of football.
"Our girls are proving themselves and the boys are also having a great season so far, with two wins from three games.”
The girls will take to Rowden Park from 12.30pm, before making way for the Frillnecks to tackle Toowoomba Rangers from 3pm.
"There will be a barbecue, bar and some good rugby entertainment,” Gardiner said.
"A lot of people haven't seen the girls play before. So if people aren't doing anything on Saturday, they should come down and check out the new girls in town,” he said.
