DIRRANBANDI Multipurpose Health Service Enrolled Nurse Leon Brown is planning a long walk through the dark night to raise money for his hospital auxiliary.
He will be undertaking a continuous 80km journey from Dirranbandi to St George along the river road from August 12-13 and is seeking community and business support.
"My goal on the walk is to raise $10,000 for the Dirranbandi Hospital Auxiliary,” Mr Brown said.
"The money will be used to purchase equipment that can enhance the services offered by the hospital to local residents.”
Mr Brown said the wish list included an air-lift chair, an electric care chair, a manual standing support lift and a four-way sheet set.
"If I reach my goal, the auxiliary should be able to buy all four items,” he said.
Mr Brown said he was keen to give something back to the community he served.
"As an Enrolled Nurse, I have been working at Dirranbandi MPHS for more than two years,” he said.
"In that time I have been continually in awe of the strong sense of support displayed by the community for its hospital and the quality of service provided by my hospital colleagues.
"As such, I will be doing this walk as a way of giving thanks to the community for its support and to my hospital colleagues for the incredible work they do.”
