GOLF As many gouged themselves on delicious chocolatey goodies, a number of keen golfers made their way to the fairway in St George.
Raising money for the Cancer Council on Saturday, 43 players took to the field and according to St George Golf Club Captain, Trader Hourn, the charity golf day was a raging success.
"Overall the day went very well, and we raised well over $600 for the cancer council local branch,” said Mr Hourn.
Mr Hourn also said that the field was bolstered by a number of visiting players.
"There were a number of out of town players, including players from Charleville, who made up the 43 on Saturday,” he said.
Mr Hourn also said that a number of games were played over the weekend.
"There were excellent conditions all weekend, with over 70 players joining in, for games on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.”
Overall winners on Saturday were locals, Frank, Sarah and Warren Whitaker, with runners up R Lomman, T Siddins and S Golding.
